IntlMOVE will ship your household goods and personal effects when you are moving to France, the United Kingdom or virtually anywhere in Europe.

There are so many beautiful places to live when you want to move overseas.

Another benefit to moving abroad is being able to travel to different countries and cities that are now close to your new home.

If you are moving to France or the United Kingdom, you will want to visit Dinan. If you are traveling from the United Kingdom, you can easily reach Dinan by taking the fairy to Saint Malo. Dinan is just 15 miles from the Saint Malo Harbor. You can also reach this city by airplane by flying from Stansted Airport.

Dinan is a charming walled French town in North East Brittany. The population of the town is around 11,000 people. When moving to France, you will want to visit this town that is often described as magical. It is a well-preserved medieval town that has a castle and many half-timbered buildings dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. The town was built on a hillside overlooking the River Rance for a view unlike any other in the world.

The ramparts, or walls, are almost completely intact and cover nearly three kilometers (1.86 miles).

The cobblestone streets are lined with all sorts of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. You can visit the stores of butchers, bakers, florists and candle makers. There are many things to see in this town, which gets rave reviews from visitors from around the world.

Rue du Petite Fort - The Rue du Petite Fort is a lane that begins in the old town and descends 300 feet to the River Rance. All along the lane, you will find picturesque beauty and an enjoyable scenic walk.

Old Town – Take a walk in Old Town down the cobbled streets or you can also see the town from an hour long train ride. For a beautiful panoramic view of Dinan, check out the Rue d’l’Horloge.

Maison du Gouvernour – The Governor’s House is a building from the 15th century. This is one of the oldest houses in Dinan. You can take a tour of the house, but you will only be able to see two of the four floors.

Château de Dinan Dinan Chateau was completed in 1384, so there is a lot of history to this building. The beautiful castle in Dinan has a small museum of the town’s history. You can learn about the famous battles that took place at this location. You can also learn about the construction of many of the town’s oldest buildings. In the basement of the chateau, you can even find some medieval tombs. The watchtower terrace will give you a stunning view of the fairytale-like city.

Jacobins Theatre – This theatre was built in 1224 and houses some of the town’s oldest treasures. The theatre has art exhibitions, plays and other cultural events for its residents and guests.

Church of Saint Malo – Construction for this Gothic style church began in 1490. Its exquisite architecture is complete with many beautiful stained glass windows.

Saint Saviour’s Basilica – While the church itself is quite lovely, you will get a magnificent view of the River Rance just behind the church.

Tour de l’horloge – The Tour de l’horloge is a 15th century clock tower that overlooks Dinan. You will get some amazing views of the river and the town.

Jardin Anglais – This beautiful garden is well kept and provides gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous landmarks in the city of love which was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806.
Napoleon originally commissioned the monument, but it wasn’t completed until after Napoleon’s reign.
The arc was finally completed in 1836.
The design was inspired by the great Roman Arch of Titus, and although the Parisian arc is much bigger, they were both constructed with the same proportions.
The arc in Paris is 160 ft in tall, 148 ft wide and 72 ft deep.
There is a viewing platform from the top of the arch, and you used to have to climb 234 steps to reach it!
Luckily, an elevator has now been built, so you can reach the top without being out of breath.
The Arc de Triomphe is the second largest triumphal arc in the world.

The official name of the monument is the Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile and is located in the large road junction of Place Charles de Gaulle at the Western end of Champs-Élysées.
The Arc de Triomphe plays a significant historical role in France’s homage to its war heroes.
The structure honors French soldiers and pays special tribute to the people who served their country during the Napoleonic Wars.
The names of generals and wars fought during Napoleon’s regime are listed on the arc.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from World War I is located under the monument.
There is an eternal flame lit for soldiers who were never identified.
Since 1923, the flame is rekindled every single day.
Jacqueline Kennedy visited this site in 1961 with her husband, President John F. Kennedy.
The flame was such an inspiration to her that she requested that one be lit at her husband’s grave after his death.

There is a museum located inside the Arc de Triomphe which gives you details on the landmark’s fascinating facts and history.
The museum also gives you details of the many events that took place at this famous Parisian monument.
It is opened until 10:30 p.m. during the slow season and 11 p.m. during the height of the tourist season.
The late night openings allow you to view the bright lights of Paris in the evening and take in the majestic views from around the city.

The Arc de Triomphe hosts many events each year, and has been the location for many events with historical significance.
You can enjoy tributes, community events and a host of other activities.
The arc holds a special place in the hearts of bicycle enthusiasts from around the world.
During the Tour de France, bicyclists know they are nearing the end of the race when the Arc de Triomphe comes into view.

I first fell in love with France after watching Jacques Cousteau’s underwater adventures.
I immediately wanted to join his expeditions and travel onboard the Calypso.
The films and photographs by Mr. Cousteau of that magical under water world were and are spectacular.

My second love affair with France came with the discovery of Brie cheese.
Did you know that there are over 400 cheeses from France?
Brie, from the French Province of Brie which is located about 60 miles from Paris, is one of the most popular.

France is a country of history and great beauty.
Paris is the culture capital with the Louvre and Eiffel Tower.
The history includes WWI memorial and WWII landing beaches.
The beauty includes grand churches and cathedrals, vineyards, rolling hills and meadows, mountains, miles of coastline with sandy beaches, imposing cliffs and quaint villages with cobblestone streets.

Food is a passion for the French and it varies by region and is influenced by what is grown locally which means the cuisine is always fresh and flavorful.

Family values are important to the French and the extended family provides both emotional and financial support. The French take the responsibility of parenting very seriously.

Every country has its customs and culture and France is no exception.
In my opinion, these should be worldwide customs.
Public and private relationships have different rules.
Friendship involves frequent if not daily contact.
A handshake is the common form of greeting; kissing on the cheek is reserved for friends.
First names are used by friends and family; wait until you are invited to use someone’s first name.
When you are introduced to or greet someone on the street or in a shop, say good morning or good afternoon Sir or Madame; anything less is considered rude.

Punctuality is important. If you make an appointment or are invited to dinner, arrive on time. If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late, a phone call and explanation are expected.

There can be no greater pleasure than seeing your dreams fulfilled right before your eyes, embarking on an exciting adventure.
Let IntlMOVE help you move to France.

Prepare, do research, gather paperwork and important documents, and select IntlMOVE, the best international movers to ship your personal effects to your new home.
France and all of its wonderments await you.

Moving to France can be a very exciting adventure.
Seeing the Eiffel Tower, visiting the Louvre Museum or experiencing the culture of France may cause you a sleepless night of sheer excitement

Moving will be stress free if you choose IntlMOVE to ship your household goods.
Whether you have a family or living alone, there are some things that you should consider to make your relocation to France successful.
Here are some things that you need to prepare beforehand to avoid any hassles upon arriving in your new destination country.

Securing the proper paperwork saves you time and effort.
Check with the embassy, consulate or visit the French customs website.
The documents, duties or taxes that you may be required to produce/pay vary depending on your status for entering France.
The regulations are subject to change without notice.
You should contact the French consulate or embassy for the latest updates in regulations or requirements.
Most countries maintain a customs website for their country which provides useful information as well as the ability to contact them via email and ask questions specific to you.

The location of your new home is important to you and your daily activities.
Whether you are a working person, single or with family, the location of your new residence is important.
Determine if your new residence is close to your workplace.
If you have children, will the new home be near their school?
In cases of emergency, is your new home near the hospital and / or police station?
How far is the airport?
Planning ahead will make the entire transition more pleasant and stress free.

Learning the language will make you feel more apart of your new country.
Just because you are from the US does not mean people in France will speak English just for you.
English may be your first language but it is not theirs.
Learning the language will make it easier for you to communicate with the local people in your community and shops.
Learning about the culture of your new country will be fun and will make you part of your new community where new friendships can be made.

What kind of work are you going to have once you get there? This question is very important because it concerns your source of income once you arrive in France.
Are you going to have work secured by your present company or are you going to look for a job? If you don’t have a job, you may want to start looking for work before you leave.
The French Embassy and / or Consulate here in the US will post employment opportunities in France.
Be sure to carry enough money with if you do not plan to have a job for 18 moths upon your arrival and until you are able to set up an account in a bank.

Immerse yourself into the French culture.
Proper research on your new country helps you plan things ahead of time. Through the internet, you can learn about holiday celebrations, learn about their music, dance, food and much more. Try to attend the events in your area that are organized by the French embassy.
Planning ahead will help your comfort level so you don’t feel homesick in your new surroundings.
