When you are moving to Austria with IntlMOVE, you may think of the Sound of Music, Mozart or a number of different cultural influences that found their home in Austria.

There are also a number of gorgeous architectural feats in Austria that make it a very desirable place to live.

Schönbrunn Palace is a prime example of a stunning building that exemplifies the beauty of Austria.

Visiting Schönbrunn Palace

Make sure IntlMOVE ships your comfy shoes along with the rest of your household goods, because you will be doing a lot of walking at Schönbrunn Palace.

Schönbrunn Palace is former imperial residence and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The beautiful attraction is located in Vienna, Austria and is one of the major tourist attractions in the country.

In 1548, Katterburg Mansion was built where Schönbrunn Palace currently stands.

It was used as hunting grounds in 1569, when Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II bought the property.

Eleonore Gonzaga built a palace on the grounds from 1638 to 1643.

Although the Schönbrunn Palace is extremely beautiful, the gardens located on the property are equally as noteworthy.

There is a sculpted garden that lies between the palace and Neptune Fountain, which is named the Great Parterre.

There are 32 sculptures lining the Great Parterre.

A maze is located in the French Garden, which can be a lot of fun when visiting the Austrian palace’s grounds.

There is even a zoo located on the grounds, which has been in existence since 1752.

An orangery was built in 1755, which is similar to a greenhouse, but housed citrus trees as the name demonstrates.

A Palm house is also built on the western part of the property.

In 1828, a stunning botanical garden was redesigned.

Offices and restaurants were opened in 2009 at Schönbrunn Palace.

Near the palace, you will find the Gloriette structure that sits on a hill.

The building is not used as a place for visitors to view the city and they can also dine at the café.

In 1778, the Ruin of Carthage was constructed.

This structure is now known as the Roman Ruin and was designed by Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg.

This structure was built to resemble the Ancient Roman temple of Vespasian and Titus.

The Roman Ruin was constructed with a pool that is enclosed by a large arch and walls.

There is much more to see at Schönbrunn Palace and you can learn more about the history of the Austrian structure when you visit.

There are over 2 million visitors per year to the Schönbrunn Palace.

Although the palace is beautiful all year long, try to go in the summer when all the gardens are in full bloom.

If you are moving to Austria, you can visit the Schönbrunn Palace during all the seasons to see how the beautifully manicured gardens change throughout the seasons.
